Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – Good deeds before death cause Allah to place love for a person in the hearts of family and neighbors.
Hadith 343
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَسْرُوقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَمِقِ الْخُزَاعِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا عَسَلَهُ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ " ، قِيلَ : وَمَا عَسَلُهُ ؟ قَالَ : " يُفْتَحُ لَهُ عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ مَوْتِهِ حَتَّى يَرْضَى عَنْهُ " .
Sayyiduna Amr bin Hamiq Khuzai (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He makes him pure (i.e., He grants him a good reputation) before his death." It was asked: What is meant by making him pure? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Before his death, righteous deeds are opened up for him, until that person becomes pleased with them."
