Hadith 332
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُرِّيَّ بْنَ قَطَرِيٍّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبِي كَانَ يَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ ، وَكَانَ يَفْعَلُ وَيَفْعَلُ ، قَالَ: " إِنَّ أَبَاكَ أَرَادَ أَمْرًا فَأَدْرَكَهُ يَعْنِي الذِّكْرَ " ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ طَعَامٍ لا أَدَعُهُ إِلا تَحَرُّجًا ، قَالَ: " لا تَدَعْ شَيْئًا ضَارَعْتَ النَّصْرَانِيَّةَ فِيهِ " . قَالَ: قُلْتُ: إِنِّي أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي فَيَأْخُذُ صَيْدًا ، وَلا أَجِدُ مَا أَذْبَحُ بِهِ إِلا الْمَرْوَةَ أَوِ الْعَصَا؟ قَالَ: " أَمِرَّ الدَّمَ بِمَا شِئْتَ ، وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللَّهِ " .
Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said, “O Messenger of Allah! My father used to maintain ties of kinship, he used to do this deed and that deed.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Your father was seeking something and he attained it,” (the narrator says) meaning fame. Sayyiduna ‘Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said, “O Messenger of Allah! I want to ask you about such food which I sometimes leave out of caution?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Do not leave anything in which Christianity has participated.” Sayyiduna ‘Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said, “I release my dog and then it catches a prey, but I do not find anything with which to slaughter it, except a knife or a stick.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Spill the blood with whatever you wish and mention the name of Allah (and then eat the prey).”
