Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – Striving in various acts of obedience during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah is recommended.
Hadith 324
أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْقَطَّانُ بِوَاسِطَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ أَيَّامٍ الْعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ فِيهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ الأَيَّامِ الْعَشْرِ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَلا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " وَلا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، إِلا رَجُلٌ خَرَجَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْجِعْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِشَيْءٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." We asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Not even striving in the way of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not even striving in the way of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth and returns with nothing of it (i.e., he sacrifices both)."
