Ibn Hibban

Imam Sha’bi narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) saying this on the pulpit. He said: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying this: My hearing and my heart have preserved it. And I know this, now I will not be able to hear anyone on this pulpit saying: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying this: (The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, says) “The example of the one who establishes the limits of Allah and the one who violates the limits of Allah is like a group of people who board a boat, and they draw lots for their places, so the place to get water and the place where people pass comes to the share of one person, so he becomes angry, and he picks up a shovel (the narrator is doubtful about a word here), so one of them says to the other: This person wants to drown us, and wants to break the boat, and the other says: Let him do it, he is breaking his own place.” (The narrator says) I also heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “Indeed, there is a piece of flesh in the body, if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt.” (The narrator says) I also heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “In terms of mercy and kindness towards each other, the example of the believers is like the body of a person, when one part of the body becomes ill, the whole body feels that pain.”
