Muhammad bin Amr bin Alqamah narrates from his father about his grandfather: Once we were sitting with him in the market. A wealthy man from Madinah passed by him, so Alqamah bin Waqas said to him: You have a right (that I should tell you this), you go to these rulers and converse with them. I heard Sayyiduna Bilal bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him), who is a companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him), narrate: I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: "A servant utters a word, and he does not realize how far it will reach; because of that word, Allah writes His pleasure for that servant until the Day of Resurrection. And a servant utters a word, and he does not realize how far it will reach; but because of that word, Allah writes His displeasure for that person until the Day of Resurrection." So, O my nephew! Consider what you say and what you speak about. Since I heard this from Sayyiduna Bilal bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him), I have refrained from speaking carelessly.
