Hadith 257
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ التَّمَّارُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيرَةَ ، وَحَبِيبٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ ، وَإِنْ صَامَ وَصَلَّى وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ : مَنْ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ ، وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ ، وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three traits, whoever possesses them is a hypocrite, even if he fasts, prays, and claims to be a Muslim: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is entrusted, he betrays the trust."
