Hadith 255
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَرْبَعُ خِلالٍ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا : مَنْ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ ، وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ ، وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ ، وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ ، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever possesses four traits will be a pure hypocrite. When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; when he makes a covenant, he violates it; and when he quarrels, he behaves in an obscene manner. And whoever possesses any one of these traits, he has a trait of hypocrisy in him.”
Hadith 256
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ فِي عَقِبِهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ .
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain from Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
