Chapter: Qualities of the Believers – Clarification that the number mentioned by the Prophet does not exclude what is beyond it
Hadith 240
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لِلْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ أَرْبَعُ خِلالٍ : يَعُودُهُ إِذَا مَرِضَ ، وَيَشْهَدُهُ إِذَا مَاتَ ، وَيُشَمِّتُهُ إِذَا عَطَسَ ، وَيُجِيبُهُ إِذَا دَعَاهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “A Muslim has four rights over another Muslim. When he falls ill, visit him; when he dies, attend his funeral; when he sneezes, respond to his sneeze; and when he invites you, accept his invitation.”
