Chapter: Qualities of the Believers – Affirmation of the sweetness of faith for those who love others for Allah’s sake
Hadith 237
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " ثَلاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ وَجَدَ حَلاوَةَ الإِيمَانِ : مَنْ كَانَ الِلَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا سِوَاهُمَا ، وَالرَّجُلُ يُحِبُّ الْقَوْمَ لا يُحِبُّهُمْ إِلا فِي اللَّهِ ، وَالرَّجُلُ إِنْ قُذِفَ فِي النَّارِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ يَهُودِيًّا أَوْ نَصْرَانِيًّا " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are three things, whoever has them will taste the sweetness of faith. That a person loves Allah and His Messenger more than anything else besides them; that he loves a people only for the sake of Allah; and that he would rather be thrown into the fire than return to disbelief after Allah has saved him from it."
Hadith 238
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " ثَلاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ وَجَدَ حَلاوَةَ الإِيمَانِ : أَنْ يَكُونَ الِلَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا سِوَاهُمَا ، وَأَنْ يُحِبَّ الْمَرْءَ لا يُحِبُّهُ إِلا لِلَّهِ ، وَأَنْ يَكْرَهَ أَنْ يَعُودَ فِي الْكُفْرِ كَمَا يَكْرَهُ أَنْ تُوقَدْ لَهُ نَارٌ فَيُقْذَفَ فِيهَا " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three qualities, whoever possesses them will taste the sweetness of faith: One is that Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything else; (second) that he loves a person and he loves him only for the sake of Allah; and (third) that he hates to return to disbelief just as he would hate to be thrown into the fire."
