Chapter: Obligation of Faith – A person’s life and property are protected if he believes in all that the Prophet brought from Allah
Hadith 220
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا : لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ، وَآمَنُوا بِي وَبِمَا جِئْتُ بِهِ ، فَفَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ عَصَمُوا مَنَي دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلا بِحَقِّهَا ، وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I have been given the right to fight against those people until they acknowledge that there is no deity except Allah. Those people do not bring faith in me and in what I have brought. When they do so, they will safeguard their lives and their wealth, except for the right (due) from them, and their reckoning will be with Allah the Exalted."
