Chapter: Accountability – The ruling for one who finds such thoughts and one who speaks them is the same unless spoken aloud
Hadith 148
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ سُهِيَلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا لَيُحَدِّثُ نَفْسَهُ بِالشَّيْءِ يَعْظُمُ عَلَى أَحَدِنَا أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ ، قَالَ : " أَوَقَدْ وَجَدْتُمُوهُ ؟ ذَاكَ صَرِيحُ الإِيمَانِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The people said, "O Messenger of Allah! Some of us have such thoughts that it is a great matter for him to express them." So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you people really experience this situation? This is clear faith."
