Affirmation of guidance for those who follow the Quran and misguidance for those who abandon it
Hadith 123
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيَمَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ : لَقَدْ رَأَيْتَ خَيْرًا ، صَحِبْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَصَلَّيْتَ خَلْفَهُ ، فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَإِنَّهُ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطَبَنَا ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمْ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ ، هُوَ حَبْلُ اللَّهِ ، مَنِ اتَّبَعَهُ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَهُ كَانَ عَلَى الضَّلالَةِ " .
Yazid bin Hayan narrates about Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him): Once we presented ourselves before him, and we requested him, "You have seen goodness, you have been with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). You have performed prayers following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." He replied, "Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us in a sermon and said: 'I am leaving among you the Book of Allah; it is the rope of Allah. Whoever follows it will remain on guidance, and whoever abandons it will be on the path of misguidance.'"
