Clarification on avoiding unnecessary complexity in religious matters
Hadith 110
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيَمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، عَنْ أبيه ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ النَّاسِ فِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ جُرْمًا ، مَنْ سَأَلَ عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ لَمْ تُحَرَّمْ ، فَحُرِّمَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِنْ أَجْلِ مَسْأَلَتِهِ " .
Aamir bin Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The greatest crime among the Muslims is of the person who inquires about something that has not been declared unlawful, and then because of his inquiry, it is declared unlawful for the Muslims."
