Description of the inhabitants of the heavens during the revelation.
Hadith 37
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ إِشْكَابٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَكَلَّمَ بِالْوَحْيِ سَمِعَ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ لِلسَّمَاءِ صَلْصَلَةً كَجَرِّ السِّلْسِلَةِ عَلَى الصَّفَا ، فَيُصْعَقُونَ ، فَلا يَزَالُونَ كَذَلِكَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُمْ جِبْرِيلُ فَجَاءَهُمْ فُزِّعَ عَنْ قُلُوبِهِمْ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا جِبْرِيلُ مَاذَا قَالَ رَبُّكَ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : الْحَقَّ ، فَيُنَادُونَ : الْحَقَّ الْحَقَّ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When Allah the Almighty speaks regarding any revelation, the inhabitants of the heavens hear it from the inhabitants of the heaven above them, just as the sound of a bell is heard, like a chain being struck on a stone. Then they fall unconscious, and they remain in this state until Sayyiduna Jibreel (peace be upon him) comes to them. When he comes to them, the fear in their hearts lessens, so they say: O Jibreel (peace be upon him), what did your Lord say? He says: He spoke the truth. Then those angels also say: He spoke the truth, He spoke the truth.
