المقدمةIntroduction
باب الاعتصام بالسنة وما يتعلق بها نقلا وأمرا وزجرا - ذكر البيان بأن الكذب على المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم من أفرى الفرى-
Chapter: Holding fast to the Sunnah – Clarification that lying about the Prophet is among the gravest lies.
Hadith 32
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأَسْقَعِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ الْفِرْيَةِ ثَلاثًا ، أَنْ يَفْرِيَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ ، يَقُولُ : رَأَيْتُ ، وَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا فِي الْمَنَامِ ، أَوْ يَتَقَوَّلَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى وَالِدَيْهِ ، فَيُدْعَى إِلَى غَيْرِ أَبِيهِ ، أَوْ يَقُولَ : سَمِعَ مِنِّي ، وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنِّي " .
Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say:
Indeed, the greatest lie (he said this three times, then said:) is that a man lies about himself: that he says, “I saw such-and-such dream,” while he did not see anything in his dream; or a man falsely claims something about his parents so that he may be attributed to someone other than his father; or a person says that he heard something (i.e., a hadith) from me, while he did not hear it from me.
