Urwah bin Zubair narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) informed him that a man from the Ansar had a dispute with Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding a water channel coming from Harrah, through which the date orchards were irrigated.
The Ansari said: Let the water flow so that it may pass (to my land), but Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) did not accept his request. (When this case was presented before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Zubair! (Irrigate your orchard) then let the water flow for your neighbor. The Ansari became angry and said: O Messenger of Allah! (You have given this decision) because he is your cousin. The face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed color, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Zubair! Irrigate your (orchard) and then hold back the water until it reaches the embankments.
Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: By Allah! I think that this verse was revealed about this matter:
"By your Lord, they will not (truly) believe until they make you judge in all disputes between them."
