Hadith 18
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him:
“Leave me as I have left you regarding those things; for the people before you were destroyed only because of their excessive questioning and their disagreement with their prophets.
So, when I forbid you from something, abstain from it, and when I command you to do something, do of it as much as you are able.”
Ibn ‘Ajlan says: I narrated this hadith to Aban bin Salih, so he said to me,
“How excellent is this statement (i.e., the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him): ‘Do of it as much as you are able.’”
