Hadith 11
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ لِكُلِّ عَمَلٍ شِرَّةً ، وَإِنَّ لِكُلِّ شِرَّةٍ فَتْرَةً ، فَمَنْ كَانَتْ شِرَّتُهُ إِلَى سُنَّتِي فَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ ، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ شِرَّتُهُ إِلَى غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ هَلَكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, every deed has a period of enthusiasm, and every enthusiasm has a period of slackening. Whoever’s enthusiasm is directed towards my Sunnah has succeeded, and whoever’s enthusiasm is directed elsewhere will be destroyed."
