Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The people complained to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the lack of rain. The Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered for the pulpit to be brought. It was placed in the Eid ground. The Prophet (peace be upon him) promised the people a day that they should go out on that day. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the disc of the sun appeared, the Prophet (peace be upon him) came out, sat on the pulpit, and praised and glorified Allah Almighty. He said: "You people have complained about your gardens drying up and the long period without rain. Allah Almighty has commanded you to supplicate to Him, and He has promised you that He will accept your supplication." Then he said: "All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, Master of the Day of Judgment. O Allah! There is no deity except You. You do whatever You will. O Allah! You alone are Allah, there is no deity except You. You are Self-Sufficient and we are needy. So send down rain upon us, and whatever You send down upon us, make it a source of strength and sufficiency for a fixed term." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) raised both his hands until we could see the whiteness of his armpits. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned his back to the people and turned his cloak inside out. At that time, he had both his hands raised, then he turned towards the people and descended from the pulpit. Then he performed two units of prayer, and Allah Almighty created clouds, there was thunder and lightning, and by Allah's command, rain began to fall. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was still in the mosque (i.e., the Eid ground) when the drains began to flow. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) noticed that the people had covered themselves with their clothes, the Prophet (peace be upon him) smiled so much that his side teeth became visible. He said: "I bear witness that Allah Almighty has power over all things, and indeed I am Allah's servant and His Messenger."
