Hadith 986

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، أَنَّ رَجُلا ، قَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِمُحَمَّدٍ وَحْدَنَا . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَقَدْ حَجَبْتَهَا عَنْ نَاسٍ كَثِيرٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man said: O Allah! Grant forgiveness only to me and Muhammad (peace be upon him). So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: You have withheld (this forgiveness) from many people. (That is, you did not let it reach them.)
