Hadith 983

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَمَا إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَوْ أَنَّهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَهْلَهُ ، قَالَ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، اللَّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنَا الشَّيْطَانَ ، وَجَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْتَنَا ، ثُمَّ رُزِقَا وَلَدًا لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ الشَّيْطَانُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person intends to approach his wife, he should recite this supplication: "With the name of Allah, seeking blessing (I begin this act). O Allah! Keep Satan away from us and keep Satan away from that which You provide for us (i.e., offspring)." (The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said:) Then if a child is granted to them, Satan will not be able to harm him.
