ذكر الخبر الدال على إباحة كتمان العالم بعض ما يعلم من العلم إذا علم أن قلوب المستمعين له لا تحتمله-Evidence that a scholar may conceal some knowledge if listeners cannot bear it
Hadith 97

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بِسْطَامٍ بِالأُبُلَّةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ حِيطَانِ الْمَدِينَةِ مُتَوَكِّئًا عَلَى عَسِيبٍ ، إِذْ جَاءَتْهُ الْيَهُودُ ، فَسَأَلَتْهُ عَنِ الرُّوحِ ، فَنَزَلَتْ : وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي وَمَا أُوتِيتُمْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلا قَلِيلا سورة الإسراء آية 85 .
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: "Once, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in a garden in Madinah, leaning against a branch (trunk). Some Jews came to him. They asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about the soul. Then this verse was revealed: 'They ask you concerning the soul. Say: The soul is from the command of my Lord, and you have been given only a little knowledge.'"
