Hadith 950

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ السَّهْمِيَّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ ، عَلَى هَذَا الْمِنْبَرِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ عَامَ أَوَّلٍ يَقُولُ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَعْبَرَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ ، فَبَكَى ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَنْ تُؤْتَوْا شَيْئًا بَعْدَ كَلِمَةِ الإِخْلاصِ مِثْلَ الْعَافِيَةِ ، فَسَلُوا اللَّهَ الْعَافِيَةَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) saying this from the pulpit. He said, "One year ago from today, I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say this on this very day." After that, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr began to weep. Then he said, "I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'After the word of sincerity (the testimony of faith), you have not been given anything better than well-being, so ask Allah for well-being.'"
