Hadith 938

أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : ادْعُ اللَّهَ لَنَا ، فَقَالَ: " اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ، وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً ، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ . قَالُوا: زِدْنَا ، فَأَعَادَهَا . قَالُوا: زِدْنَا ، فَأَعَادَهَا . فَقَالُوا: زِدْنَا ، فَقَالَ: مَا تُرِيدُونَ؟ سَأَلْتُ لَكُمْ خَيْرَ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ " . قَالَ أَنَسٌ : " وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ بِهَا: اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ، وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً ، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ " .
Thabit narrates: People said to Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him: Pray to Allah Almighty for us, so he made this supplication: "O Allah! Grant us goodness in this world and grant us goodness in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of Hell." The people requested, "Pray more," so he repeated the same supplication. The people said, "Pray more," so he again made the same supplication. The people said, "Pray more," so Sayyiduna Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, asked: "What do you want? I have asked for goodness in this world and the Hereafter for you." Sayyiduna Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, would often make this supplication: "O Allah! Grant us goodness in this world and grant us goodness in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of Hell."
