Hadith 919

أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا الْقَطَّانُ بِالرَّقَّةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي الْعِشْرِينَ ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا مَضَى شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ ثُلُثَاهُ ، يَنْزِلُ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلا إِلَى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا ، فَيَقُولُ : مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَدْعُونِي أَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَرْزِقُنِي أَرْزُقُهُ ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي أَغْفِرُ لَهُ ؟ حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الصُّبْحُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When half the night (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) or two-thirds of the night passes, Allah Almighty descends towards the sky of the world and calls out: Who is there who asks from Me so that I may grant him? Who is there who supplicates to Me so that I may accept his supplication? Who is there who asks for sustenance so that I may provide for him? Who is there who seeks forgiveness so that I may forgive him? (The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:) This continues until the break of dawn."
