Hadith 917

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا تَصَدَّقَ إِلَيْهِ أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ بِصَدَقَةٍ ، صَلَّى عَلَيْهِمْ ، قَالَ : فَتَصَدَّقَ أَبِي إِلَيْهِ بِصَدَقَةٍ ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى آلِ أَبِي أَوْفَى " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever people from a household would bring charity to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would supplicate for mercy for them. My father presented his charity to him, so he said: O Allah! Send mercy upon the family of Abu Awfa.
