Hadith 891

أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانِ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سَمِعَ رَجُلا ، يَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنَّكَ لا إِلَهَ إِلا أَنْتَ ، الأَحَدُ ، الصَّمَدُ ، الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَقَدْ سَأَلْتَ اللَّهَ بِالاسْمِ الَّذِي إِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى ، وَإِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ " .
Abdullah bin Buraidah narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) heard a man supplicating: O Allah! "I ask You, indeed I bear witness that there is no deity except You, You are One, the Eternal Refuge, You did not beget nor were You begotten, and there is none comparable to You." So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: This person has supplicated to Allah by His Name, when asked by it, Allah gives, and when supplicated by it, Allah accepts the supplication.
