المقدمةIntroduction
باب الاعتصام بالسنة وما يتعلق بها نقلا وأمرا وزجرا - ذكر البيان بأن من أحب الله جل وعلا وصفيه صلى الله عليه وسلم بإيثار أمرهما-Chapter: Holding fast to the Sunnah – Clarification that loving Allah and His Messenger is shown by preferring their commands.

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدْمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذْ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانُوا هُمْ أَجْدَرَ أَنْ يَسْأَلُوهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ قَالَ : " وَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا ؟ " قَالَ : مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا إِلا أَنِّي أُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ " ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ : فَمَا رَأَيْتُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَرِحُوا بِشَيْءٍ بَعْدَ الإِسْلامِ أَشَدَّ مِنْ فَرَحِهِمْ بِقَوْلِهِ .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Bedouin asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), although it would have been more appropriate for the Companions to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) this question. The Bedouin said: O Messenger of Allah! When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) come? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: What preparation have you made for it? He replied: I have not made any special preparation for it, but I love Allah and His Messenger. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Indeed, you will be with those whom you love.
Sayyiduna Anas narrates: I have never seen the people as happy about anything after accepting Islam as they were upon hearing this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
