Hadith 791

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْعَابِدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي صَعْصَعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا سَمِعَ رَجُلا يَقْرَأُ : قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ سورة الإخلاص آية 1 يُرَدِّدُهَا ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ ، أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَكَأَنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَتَقَالُّهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man heard another man reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas repeatedly. The next day, he came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this to him, considering that person to regard this Surah as insignificant. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to that person, “By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, it is equal to one third of the Qur’an.”
