أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَوْدُودٍ أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْحُرِّ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ صَلَّى صَلاةً لَمْ يَقْرَأْ فِيهَا بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ، فَهِيَ خِدَاجٌ ، فَهِيَ خِدَاجٌ غَيْرُ تَمَامٍ " قَالَ : ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، إِنِّي أَحْيَانًا أَكُونُ وَرَاءَ الإِمَامِ ، قَالَ : فَغَمَزَ ذِرَاعِي ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : يَا فَارِسِيُّ ، اقْرَأْ بِهَا فِي نَفْسِكَ ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى : قُسِمَتِ الصَّلاةُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ عِبَادِي نِصْفَيْنِ ، فَنِصْفُهَا لِعَبْدِي وَنِصْفُهَا لِي ، وَلِعَبْدِي مَا سَأَلَ ، إِذَا قَالَ الْعَبْدُ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 2 ، قَالَ اللَّهُ : حَمِدَنِي عَبْدِي ، وَإِذَا قَالَ : الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ سورة الفاتحة آية 1 يَقُولُ اللَّهُ : أَثْنَى عَلَيَّ عَبْدِي ، وَإِذَا قَالَ : مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ سورة الفاتحة آية 4 ، قَالَ : مَجَّدَنِي عَبْدِي ، وَهَذِهِ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ عَبْدِي ، يَقُولُ : إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ سورة الفاتحة آية 5 ، وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِعَبْدِي ، وَلِعَبْدِي مَا سَأَلَ ، اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 6 - 7 . فَهَذَا لِعَبْدِي ، وَلِعَبْدِي مَا سَأَلَ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ : عَبْدُ الْقُدُّوسِ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ الْخَوْلانِيُّ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever performs prayer and does not recite Surah Al-Fatihah in it, then that prayer is incomplete, it is incomplete, it is not complete." The narrator states: A man said: O Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him)! Sometimes I am behind the Imam, so Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) struck my arm and said: O Persian! Recite it in your heart, I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say this: "Allah Almighty says: I have divided the prayer (i.e., the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah) between Myself and My servant into two parts, half of it is for My servant and half is for Me, and My servant will have what he asks for. When the servant recites «الحمد لله رب العلمين », Allah Almighty says: My servant has praised Me. When the servant recites 'Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem', Allah Almighty says: My servant has extolled Me. When the servant recites «ملك يوم الدين», Allah Almighty says: My servant has glorified Me, and this (the following verse) is between Me and My servant, he says: '«اياك نعبد و اياك نستعين »', and the remaining part after this is for My servant, and My servant will have what he asks for. He recites: 'Guide us to the straight path, the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.' (Allah Almighty says), so this thing will be given to My servant and My servant will have what he asks for."
