Hadith 7384

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ الضَّبِّيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْجُمَحِيُّ ، عَنْ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي زُهَيْرٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ بِالنَّبَاءَةِ ، أَوِ النَّبَاوَةِ مِنَ الطَّائِفِ : " تُوشِكُونَ أَنْ تَعَلَمُوا أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ ، أَوْ خِيَارَكُمْ مِنْ شِرَارِكُمْ ، وَلا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلا قَالَ : أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ : بِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " بِالثَّنَاءِ الْحَسَنِ ، وَالثَّنَاءِ السَّيِّئَ ، أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ ، بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ " .
Abu Bakr bin Abu Zuhair Thaqafi narrates from his father: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) at the place of Nibah or Nibawah, which is related to Taif, saying during a sermon: "Soon you will recognize the people of Paradise in comparison to the people of Hell (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words:) you will recognize the better people in comparison to the worse people."
(The narrator says) To my knowledge, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "You will recognize the people of Paradise in comparison to the people of Hell." One of the Muslims asked: O Messenger of Allah! By what means? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Through good praise and bad praise, you are witnesses over one another."
(The narrator says) To my knowledge, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "You will recognize the people of Paradise in comparison to the people of Hell."
