أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيَمُرُّ النَّاسُ عَلَى جِسْرِ جَهَنَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ حَسَكٌ ، وَكَلالِيبُ ، وَخَطَاطِيفُ تَخْطَفُ النَّاسَ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالا ، وَبِجَنْبَتَيْهِ مَلائِكَةٌ ، يَقُولُونَ : اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْ سَلِّمْ ، فَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَمُرُّ مِثْلَ الرِّيحِ ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَمُرُّ مِثْلَ الْفَرَسِ الْمُجْرَى ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَسْعَى سَعْيًا ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَمْشِي مَشْيًا ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَحْبُو حَبْوًا ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَزْحَفُ زَحْفًا ، فَأَمَّا أَهْلُ النَّارِ الَّذِينَ هُمْ أَهْلُهَا ، فَلا يَمُوتُونَ ، وَلا يَحْيَوْنَ ، وَأَمَّا أُنَاسٌ ، فَيُؤْخَذُونَ بِذُنُوبٍ وَخَطَايَا ، فَيُحْرَقُونَ ، فَيَكُونُونَ فَحْمًا ، ثُمَّ يُؤْذَنُ فِي الشَّفَاعَةِ ، فَيُؤْخَذُونَ ضِبَارَاتٍ ضِبَارَاتٍ ، فَيَقْذَفُونَ عَلَى نَهَرٍ مِنْ أَنْهَارِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَيَنْبُتُونَ كَمَا تَنْبُتُ الْحَبَّةُ فِي حَمِيلِ السَّيْلِ " ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَا رَأَيْتُمُ الصَّبْغَاءَ شَجَرَةً تَنْبُتُ فِي الْفَضَاءِ ؟ فَيَكُونُ مِنْ آخِرِ مَنَ أُخْرِجَ مِنَ النَّارِ رَجُلٌ عَلَى شَفَتِهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، صَرِّفْ وَجْهِي عَنْهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : عَهْدَكَ وَذِمَّتَكَ لا تَسْأَلْنِي غَيْرَهَا ، قَالَ : وَعَلَى الصِّرَاطِ ثَلاثُ شَجَرَاتٍ ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، حَوِّلْنِي إِلَى هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ آكُلُ مِنْ ثَمَرِهَا وَأَكُونُ فِي ظِلِّهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : عَهْدَكَ وَذِمَّتَكَ لا تَسْأَلْنِي شَيْئًا غَيْرَهَا ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ يَرَى أُخْرَى أَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، حَوِّلْنِي إِلَى هَذِهِ آكُلُ مِنْ ثَمَرِهَا ، وَأَكُونُ فِي ظِلِّهَا ، قَالَ : فَيَقُولُ : عَهْدَكَ وَذِمَّتَكَ لا تَسْأَلْنِي غَيْرَهَا ، ثُمَّ يَرَى أُخْرَى أَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، حَوِّلْنِي إِلَى هَذِهِ آكُلُ مِنْ ثِمَارِهَا وَأَكُونُ فِي ظِلِّهَا ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ يَرَى سَوَادَ النَّاسِ وَيَسْمَعُ كَلامَهُمْ ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، أَدْخِلْنِي الْجَنَّةَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو نَضْرَةَ : اخْتَلَفَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا : فَيُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ ، فَيُعْطَى الدُّنْيَا وَمِثْلَهَا ، وَقَالَ الآخَرُ : فَيَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ ، فَيُعْطَى الدُّنْيَا وَعَشَرَةَ أَمْثَالِهَا ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى وَعَلَى الصِّرَاطِ ثَلاثُ شَجَرَاتٍ ، وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ عَلَى جَانِبِ الصِّرَاطِ ثَلاثُ شَجَرَاتٍ .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "People will pass over the bridge of Hell. Upon it will be large hooks and spikes, which will snatch people from the right and from the left. On both sides of it, there will be angels present, and they will be saying: O Allah, grant safety, grant safety. Some people will pass as swiftly as the wind, some like a fast horse, some like a running person, some like a walking person, some will crawl across, and some will pass on their knees. As for the people of Hell, those who are its inhabitants, they will neither die in Hell nor live. However, some people will be seized and burned due to their sins and mistakes. When they become like coal, then permission for intercession will be granted, and they will be taken out in groups and placed in a river of Paradise, and they will sprout forth just as a seed sprouts in the path of a flood. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Have you not seen that tree which grows in an open place? (The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, says:) The last person to be taken out of Hell will be the one who is at the edge of Hell. He will say: O my Lord! Turn my face away from Hell. The Lord will say: Do you promise that you will not ask Me for anything else besides this? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: There will be three trees on the bridge of Sirat. That servant will say: O my Lord! Turn me towards that tree so that I may eat its fruit and come under its shade. The Lord will say: Do you promise that you will not ask Me for anything else besides this? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Then that person will see the second tree, which is better than the first, so he will say: O my Lord! Turn me towards it so that I may eat its fruit and come under its shade. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: The Lord will say: Do you promise that you will not ask for anything else besides this? Then he will see the third tree, which is even better than the previous one, so he will say: O my Lord! Take me to that tree so that I may eat its fruit and come under its shade. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Then that person will see the crowds of people (in Paradise) and hear their speech, so he will say: O my Lord! Admit me into Paradise. The narrator named Abu Nazrah states: Here, there was a difference (in wording) between Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) and another companion of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One of them said: The Lord will admit him into Paradise and grant him the world and the like of it in addition (as a place in Paradise), and the other companion said: Then that person will enter Paradise and will be granted ten times the like of the world (as a place in Paradise).
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Imam Abu Ya'la has also narrated in this way that there will be three trees on the bridge of Sirat, although the original wording of the narration is: On one side of the bridge of Sirat (i.e., the side of Paradise) there will be three trees."
