Hadith 734

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْجَاهِرُ بِالْقُرْآنِ كَالْجَاهِرِ بِالصَّدَقَةِ ، وَالْمُسِرُّ بِالْقُرْآنِ كَالْمُسِرِّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ " .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The one who recites the Qur'an aloud is like one who gives charity openly, and the one who recites the Qur'an quietly is like one who gives charity secretly."
