Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When the Day of Resurrection comes, the sun will come close to the people, so much so that it will be at a distance of one mile or two miles." Salim, the narrator, says: I do not know which mile is meant by this—whether it is the distance of a mile, or the needle with which kohl is applied to the eye. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The sun will be closest to them, and the people will be submerged in sweat according to their deeds. Some of them will have sweat up to their ankles, some up to their knees, some up to the lower part of their bellies, and some up to their mouths.
The narrator says: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicate towards his mouth with his blessed hand and said: Its bridle will be put into his mouth.
