Hadith 7325

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُمْسِكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ عَلَى إِصْبَعٍ ، وَالْمَاءَ وَالثَّرَى عَلَى إِصْبَعٍ ، وَالْخَلائِقَ كُلَّهَا عَلَى إِصْبَعٍ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : أَنَا الْمَلِكُ ، " فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ " ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ : وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَالأَرْضُ جَمِيعًا قَبْضَتُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالسَّمَوَاتُ مَطْوِيَّاتٌ بِيَمِينِهِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A person from among the People of the Book came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Indeed, Allah will hold the heavens on one of His fingers. He will place the water and the earth on one of His fingers, and all the creatures on one of His fingers, and then He will say: I am the King.
(The narrator states:) So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled until his molar teeth became visible. Then he recited this verse: "They did not appraise Allah with true appraisal. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grip, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him."
