Hadith 7308

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْغَيْثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ : وَآخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : مَنْ هَؤُلاءِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ ، فَعَادَ وَمَضَى سَلْمَانُ ، فَضَرَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى مَنْكِبِهِ ، وَقَالَ : " لَوْ كَانَ الإِيمَانُ مُعَلَّقًا بِالثُّرَيَّا لَتَنَاوَلَهُ رِجَالٌ مِنْ قَوْمِ هَذَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when this verse was revealed: "And among them are others who have not yet joined them." A man asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who are these people? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not reply. The man repeated his question. Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on his shoulder and said: If faith were suspended at Thurayya (the Pleiades star), some people from his nation would attain it from there.
