Hadith 7286

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، وَعُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أنهما سمعا أبا هريرة ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " دَارُ بَنِي عَبْدِ الأَشْهَلِ ، وَهُمْ رَهْطُ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ " ، قَالُوا : ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " ثُمَّ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ " ، قَالُوا : ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ " ، قَالُوا : ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " ثُمَّ بَنُو سَاعِدَةَ " ، قَالُوا : ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " فِي كُلِّ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ " ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ ، فَقَالَ : ذَكَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آخِرَ أَرْبَعَةِ أَدْوُرٍ لأُكَلِّمَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ : أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ يَذْكُرَكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آخِرَ الأَرْبَعَةِ ، فَوَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّنْ ذَكَرَ ، قَالَ : فَرَجَعَ سَعْدٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you about the best households among the Ansar?" The people said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The household of Banu Abd al-Ashhal." These people were the family of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him). The people asked: "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then Banu Najjar." The people asked: "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then Banu Harith bin Khazraj." The people inquired: "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then Banu Sa'idah." The people inquired: "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is goodness in all the households of the Ansar." When Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) was informed of this, he said: "The Messenger of Allah mentioned us last among the four households; I will certainly speak to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this." Then a man said to him: "Are you not pleased that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned you even at the end among the four households? By Allah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left out more households of the Ansar than he mentioned." At this, Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) refrained.
