Hadith 7245

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ بِحَرَّانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبَى عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الأَوْدِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا هُوَ ذَاتُ يَوْمٍ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ ، إِذْ قَالَ : خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ مِنْ قُبَّةٍ لَهُ مِنْ أَدَمٍ ، فَقَالَ : " أَلا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ تَكُونُوا رُبُعَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " وَثُلُثُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، إِنِّي لأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونُوا نِصْفَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، إِنَّ مَثَلَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي الْكُفَّارِ كَالْبَقَرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِيهَا الشَّعْرَةُ السَّوْدَاءُ ، أَوْ كَالْبَقَرَةِ السَّوْدَاءِ فِيهَا الشَّعْرَةُ الْبَيْضَاءُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was once present in the treasury (Bayt al-Mal), when he said: Once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us from his leather tent and said: Are you not pleased that you will be one fourth of the people of Paradise? The people replied: Yes, indeed. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Or that you will be one third of the people of Paradise? The people replied: Yes, indeed. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise. The example of the Muslims among the disbelievers is like a white cow in which there is a single black hair, or a black cow in which there is a single white hair.
