أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ حَوْضِي لأَبْعَدُ مِنْ أَيْلَةَ إِلَى عَدْنَ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لآنِيَتُهُ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ عَدَدِ النُّجُومِ ، وَلَهُوَ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ ، وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، إِنِّي لأَذُودُ عَنْهُ الرِّجَالَ كَمَا يَذُودُ الرَّجُلُ الإِبِلَ الْغَرِيبَةَ عَنْ حَوْضِهِ " ، فَقِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَتَعْرِفُنَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، تَرِدُونَ عَلَيَّ غُرًّا مُحَجَّلِينَ مِنْ آثَارِ الْوُضُوءِ لَيْسَ لأَحَدٍ غَيْرِكُمْ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : قَوْلُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لأَبْعَدُ مِنْ أَيْلَةَ إِلَى عَدْنَ " ، تَأْكِيدٌ فِي الْقَصْدِ ، لا أَنَّهُ أَبْعَدُ مِنْهُمَا .
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My cistern (Hawd) is greater than the distance from Ayla to Aden. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, the vessels of this cistern are more numerous than the stars, and its drink is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, some people will be turned away from this cistern, just as a man drives away strange camels from his cistern." It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Will you recognize us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes. You will come to me with radiant foreheads due to the traces of ablution, and this sign will not be for anyone except you."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Greater than the distance from Ayla to Aden" is meant to emphasize the greatness. It does not mean that it is actually farther than both of them.
