Hadith 7237

وَأَخْبَرَنَا ابن خزيمة ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الطُّوسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَامِرُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْبَلَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ مِنَ الْعَالِيَةِ حَتَّى إِذَا مَرَّ بِمَسْجِدِ بَنِي مُعَاوِيَةَ دَخَلَ ، فَرَكَعَ فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، وَصَلَّيْنَا مَعَهُ ، فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ طَوِيلا ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ : " سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي أَنْ لا يُهْلِكَ أُمَّتِي بِالسَّنَةِ ، فَأَعْطَانِيهَا ، وَسَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ لا يَجْعَلَ بَأْسَهُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ ، فَمَنَعَنِيهَا " .
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was coming from the upper area, until he passed by the mosque of Banu Mu’awiyah. He entered it, performed two rak’ahs, and we prayed behind him. He supplicated to his Lord for a long time, then he turned towards us and said: I asked my Lord that He would not destroy my ummah through famine, and He granted me this. I asked Him that they would not fight among themselves, but He did not grant me this.
