Hadith 7210

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَحْطَبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ سَيْفٍ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رُهْمٍ السَّمَعِيِّ ، عَنِ الْعِرْبَاضِ بْنِ سَارِيَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِسَابَ وَقِّهِ الْعَذَابَ " .
Sayyiduna Irbad bin Sariyah Salmi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "O Allah, grant Muawiyah knowledge of the Book (i.e., the Noble Qur'an) and calculation, and protect him from punishment."
