Hadith 720

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اشْتَرَى رَجُلٌ مِنْ رَجُلٍ عَقَارًا ، فَوَجَدَ الَّذِي اشْتَرَى الْعَقَارَ فِي عَقَارِهِ جَرَّةَ ذَهَبٍ ، فقَالَ لَهُ الَّذِي اشْتَرَى الْعَقَارَ : خُذْ ذَهَبَكَ عَنِّي ، إِنَّمَا اشْتَرَيْتُ مِنْكَ أَرْضًا وَلَمْ أَبْتَعْ مِنْكَ ذَهَبًا ، وَقَالَ الَّذِي بَاعَ الأَرْضَ : إِنَّمَا بِعْتُكَ الأَرْضَ وَمَا فِيهَا ، قَالَ : فَتَحَاكَمَا إِلَى رَجُلٍ ، فقَالَ الَّذِي تَحَاكَمَا إِلَيْهِ : أَلَكُمَا وَلَدٌ ؟ فقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا : غُلامٌ ، وقَالَ الآخَرُ : جَارِيَةٌ ، فقَالَ : أَنْكِحُوا الْغُلامَ الْجَارِيَةَ ، وَأَنْفِقُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمَا ، وَتَصَدَّقَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A man bought a piece of land from another man. The man who bought the land found a pot of gold in that land. He said to the man from whom he had bought the land: 'Take your gold from me; I bought the land from you, I did not buy the gold from you.' The man who had sold the land said: 'I sold you the land and everything in it.' The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Both of them appointed a third person as an arbitrator. The person who was appointed as the arbitrator asked: 'Do you have any children?' One of them said: 'I have a son.' The other said: 'I have a daughter.' The arbitrator said: 'Marry the boy to the girl, and spend (the wealth) on yourselves and also give charity.'"
