Hadith 7193

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَقْدَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ قَوْمٌ أَرَقُّ مِنْكُمْ قُلُوبًا " ، فَقَدِمَ الأَشْعَرِيُّونَ ، وَفِيهِمْ أَبُو مُوسَى ، فَكَانُوا أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَظْهَرَ الْمُصَافَحَةَ فِي الإِسْلامِ ، فَجَعَلُوا حِينَ دَنَوَا الْمَدِينَةَ يَرْتَجِزُونَ وَيَقُولُونَ : غَدًا نَلْقَى الأَحِبَّةَ مُحَمَّدًا وَحِزْبَهُ .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Some people will come to you whose hearts will be extremely soft. Then the people of the Ash‘ari tribe arrived, among whom was Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him). These were the first people who initiated handshaking (musafaha) in Islam. When these people reached near Madinah Munawwarah, they were reciting rajaz poetry and saying: "Tomorrow we will meet our beloved ones, that is, Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions."
