Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Sayyiduna Abu Amir Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of the cavalry who were to pursue the enemy. When the people belonging to the tribe of Hawazin retreated, Sayyiduna Abu Amir Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) chased them until he reached Duraid bin Summah. He spurred his horse and then Ibn Duraid martyred Abu Amir. Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I attacked Ibn Duraid and killed him, and I took the flag. Then I, along with the people, presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). When he saw me and saw the flag in my hand, he inquired: O Abu Musa! Has Abu Amir been martyred? I replied: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands and prayed for him. He made this supplication: "O Allah! Include Abu Amir among those who will have the greatest reward on the Day of Resurrection."
