Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) had the most land among the Ansar in Madinah Munawwarah, and the land he loved most was the garden called Bairuha, which was right in front of the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to enter it and drink its sweet water. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When this verse was revealed, "You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love," Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Allah Almighty has said in His Book: "You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love." The most beloved of my wealth to me is Bairuha, and I give it as charity for Allah, and I hope for its reward and recompense from Allah Almighty. O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Use it wherever you wish. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Excellent! This is a profitable wealth. Excellent! This is a profitable wealth. What you have said about it, I have heard. My opinion is that you should give it to your close relatives. So Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! I will do so.
(Sayyiduna Anas [may Allah be pleased with him] narrates) So Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) distributed it among his close relatives and his paternal cousins.
