Hadith 7139

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : تُوُفِّيَ أَبِي وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ ، فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَى غُرَمَائِهِ ، أَنْ يَأْخُذُوا التَّمْرَ بِمَا عَلَيْهِ ، فَأَبَوْا ، وَلَمْ يُعْرَفُوا أَنَّ فِيهِ وَفَاءً ، فأتيت النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِذَا جَدَدْتَهُ وَوَضَعْتَهُ ، فَآذِنْ لِي " ، فَلَمَّا جَدَدْتُ ، وَوَضَعْتُهُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، آذَنْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَاءَ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرُ ، فَجَلَسَ فَدَعَا لَهُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ ، وَقَالَ : " ادْعُ غُرَمَاءَكَ وَأَوْفِهِمْ " ، فَمَا تَرَكْتُ أَحَدًا لَهُ عَلَى أَبِي دَيْنٌ إِلا قَضَيْتُهُ ، وَفَضَلَ لِي ثَلاثَةَ عَشَرَ وَسْقًا عَجْوَةً ، قَالَ : فَوَافَيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلاةَ الْمَغْرِبِ ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَضَحِكَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ : " ائْتِ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، فَأَخْبِرْهُمَا " ، فَقَالا : قَدْ عَلِمْنَا إِذْ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا صَنَعَ أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: My father passed away and he was in debt. I offered the creditors that they could take dates in exchange for the payment my father owed, but they refused to accept this, thinking that the full payment would not be made this way. I went to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you have picked the dates and gathered them, inform me. When I had picked the dates and placed them in the mosque, I informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and with him were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down and made a supplication for blessing for them, then he said: Call your creditors and pay them in full. (Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, says) So whoever had lent my father, I paid him in full, and still thirteen wasq of Ajwa dates remained with me. The narrator says: I attended the Maghrib prayer in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and said: Go to Abu Bakr and Umar and inform them about this. Both of them said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed that act, we knew at that very moment that this would happen.
