Hadith 7105

Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered together and they sent Lady Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). These women said to Lady Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her): Say to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Your wives have gathered together and they are demanding from you that you act justly regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafa (i.e., Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her). Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When Lady Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was with me under the blanket. Lady Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) conveyed to him that your wives have sent me to you, they had gathered together and they have asked you, by Allah, to act justly regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafa. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you love me? She replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then love her (i.e., Aisha). So Lady Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) returned to those women and informed them of what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said to her. The women said: You have done nothing; go again to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Lady Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) said: No, by Allah, I will never go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again regarding this matter.

(Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, says) She was truly her father's daughter. Then those wives sent Lady Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her). Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Among the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), she was the one who claimed to rival me. She said: Your wives have sent me to you; they have requested justice regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafa. Then that woman turned towards me and began to speak ill of me. I remained silent and kept observing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I kept looking at the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to see if he would permit me to respond to her, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say anything. She continued to speak ill of me until I thought that if I now responded to her, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not mind. I confronted her, and in a short time, I silenced her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: She is the daughter of Abu Bakr.

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I have never seen a woman who was more charitable, more generous in giving charity, more devoted to maintaining family ties, and more engaged in acts by which one seeks nearness to Allah than Lady Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her). However, she did have a certain sharpness in her temperament, but she would quickly repent regarding it (i.e., she would admit her mistake).
