أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ ، يَقُولُ : فَزِعَ النَّاسُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَفَرَّقُوا ، فَرَأَيْتُ سَالِمًا مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ احْتَبَى بِسَيْفِهِ ، وَجَلَسَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ ذَلِكَ فَعَلْتُ مِثْلَ الَّذِي فَعَلَ ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَآنِي وَسَالِمًا ، وَأَتَى النَّاسُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، أَلا كَانَ مَفْزَعُكُمْ إِِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ؟ أَلا فَعَلْتُمْ كَمَا فَعَلَ هَذَانِ الرَّجُلانِ الْمُؤْمِنَانِ " .
Sayyiduna Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once, in Madinah Munawwarah, people became anxious with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so they scattered here and there. I saw Salim, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him), that he had drawn his sword and was sitting in the mosque. When I saw him, I did the same as he did. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, he saw me and Salim, then other people also came. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O people! What is the reason that you did not come to Allah and His Messenger in your anxiety, and what is the reason that you did not do what these two believing men did?
