Hadith 709

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَحَبَّ دُنْيَاهُ ، أَضَرَّ بِآخِرَتِهِ ، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ آخِرَتَهُ أَضَرَّ بِدُنْيَاهُ ، فَآثِرُوا مَا يَبْقَى عَلَى مَا يَفْنَى " .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever loves the world, this thing harms his Hereafter; whoever loves the Hereafter, then this thing harms his world. So give preference to that which is everlasting over that which will perish."
