Ibn Buraidah narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: When I entered Paradise, I heard the sound of footsteps. I inquired: Who is this? The angels replied: This is Bilal. Then I passed by a palace that was very beautifully constructed. I asked: Whose is this? The angels replied: This belongs to a person from the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him). I said: I am Muhammad, whose palace is this? The angels replied: This belongs to a person from among the Arabs. I said: I am also an Arab, whose palace is this? The angels replied: This is Umar bin Khattab's. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): For what reason have you preceded me in Paradise? He replied: Whenever I become impure, I perform ablution, and whenever I perform ablution, I offer two units of prayer. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): If I had not considered your temperament's intensity, I would have entered the palace. He replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), I cannot show intensity of temperament against you.
